Citation Polices

Citation Policy for Authors

The European Journal of Pure and Applied Mathematics explicitly forbids coercive or unnecessary citations to EJPAM or any other journal. Editors and reviewers must not request citations to EJPAM, specific journals, articles, or authors unless they are clearly and directly relevant to improving the scientific quality of the manuscript.

Manuscripts showing evidence of citation manipulation, including coercive citation requests, excessive or unjustified citations to EJPAM, or undue self-citation by the authors, will be rejected. EJPAM reserves the right to withdraw editorial consideration at any stage if such practices are detected.

By submitting to EJPAM, authors acknowledge and agree to comply with this Citation Policy and with the journal’s wider publication ethics and malpractice statement, which follows COPE guidelines.

Citation Policy for Reviewers

Reviewers must not request citations to their own work, to EJPAM, or to any other journal unless such references are clearly and directly necessary to improve the scientific quality of the manuscript. Coercive citation, citation padding, excessive self-citation, or any form of citation manipulation is strictly prohibited.

Reviewers must flag excessive self-citation when observed in a submitted manuscript, especially when such citations do not meaningfully contribute to the scholarly content.

EJPAM may remove inappropriate citation requests from reviewer reports and may discontinue collaboration with reviewers who repeatedly violate this policy.

Citation Policy for Editors-in-Chief

Editors-in-Chief must not request or encourage authors to add citations to EJPAM or to any other journal unless such references are clearly essential to improve the scientific quality, accuracy, or completeness of the manuscript. Editors are strictly prohibited from using citation requests to influence journal metrics, impact measurements, or citation counts.

Editors must evaluate all manuscripts solely based on their scholarly merit and relevance to the journal’s scope. Any form of coercive citation, citation padding, or inappropriate influence on authors’ reference lists is considered unethical and violates COPE standards.

EJPAM reserves the right to investigate any concerns related to editorial citation manipulation and may take appropriate actions—including removal of editorial duties—if misconduct is identified.
