Publication Ethics and Publication Malpractice Statement

It is necessary to agree upon standards of expected ethical behaviour for all parties involved in the act of publishing, including authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher. The ethical standards of the European Journal of Pure and Applied Mathematics (EJPAM) are based on the guidelines and best practices of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Duties and Responsibilities of the Publisher

In cases of alleged or proven scientific misconduct, fraudulent publication, or plagiarism, the publisher, in close collaboration with the Editors-in-Chief, will take appropriate measures to clarify the situation and address the issue. This may include the publication of an erratum, a correction, or, in serious cases, the retraction of the affected article, in accordance with COPE retraction guidelines.

The Publisher and the Journal do not discriminate on the basis of age, color, religion, creed, disability, marital status, veteran status, national origin, race, gender, genetic predisposition or carrier status, or sexual orientation in their publishing programs, services, and activities.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Editors-in-Chief

Fair play

Manuscripts are evaluated solely on the basis of their intellectual content and relevance to the scope of the journal, without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy of the authors.

Confidentiality

Editors and editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, editorial advisers, and the publisher, as appropriate.

Disclosure and conflicts of interest

Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in an editor’s own research without the explicit written consent of the authors.

Publication decisions

The Editors-in-Chief are responsible for deciding which submitted manuscripts should be published. These decisions may be guided by the policies of the journal’s Editorial Board and by legal requirements concerning libel, copyright infringement, and plagiarism. Editors may consult with other editors or reviewers when making publication decisions.

Citation Policy

Editors must not request or encourage authors to add citations to EJPAM or to any other journal unless such references are clearly necessary to improve the scientific quality, accuracy, or completeness of the manuscript. Citation requests must not be used to influence journal metrics or citation counts. Any form of coercive citation or citation manipulation is considered unethical and contrary to COPE principles.

Involvement in investigations

Editors will take appropriate action when ethical concerns are raised regarding a submitted or published manuscript. All reported cases of unethical publishing behaviour will be investigated, even if discovered after publication. When necessary, corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern may be issued in accordance with COPE recommendations.

Duties and Responsibilities of Peer Reviewers

Contribution to editorial decisions

Peer review assists editors in making editorial decisions and may also help authors improve their manuscripts.

Promptness

Reviewers who feel unqualified to review a manuscript or who cannot complete the review in a timely manner should notify the Editors-in-Chief promptly.

Confidentiality

Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents and must not be shared or discussed with others without authorization from the Editors-in-Chief.

Standards of objectivity

Reviews should be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Referees should provide clear and constructive comments supported by appropriate arguments.

Acknowledgement of sources

Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors and should inform the editor of any substantial similarity between the manuscript under review and other published works.

Disclosure and conflict of interest

Information obtained through peer review must be kept confidential and not used for personal advantage. Reviewers should decline to review manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest.

Citation Policy for Reviewers

Reviewers must not request citations to their own work, to EJPAM, or to any other journal unless such references are clearly necessary to improve the scientific quality of the manuscript. Any form of citation manipulation is unacceptable.

Duties and Responsibilities of Authors

Reporting standards

Authors should present an accurate account of the research performed and an objective discussion of its significance. The manuscript should contain sufficient detail and references to permit replication of the work.

Originality and plagiarism

Authors must ensure that their work is entirely original and that any use of the work or words of others is properly cited. Manuscripts submitted to the journal may be screened for plagiarism using similarity detection software integrated with Crossref Similarity Check.

Multiple or concurrent publication

Authors should not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal at the same time. Submitting the same work to multiple journals constitutes unethical publishing behaviour.

Acknowledgement of sources

Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be given.

Authorship of a manuscript

Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made significant contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. The corresponding author must ensure that all co-authors have approved the final version of the manuscript and have agreed to its submission.

Changes to authorship

Requests to add, remove, or reorder authors must include a clear explanation and written agreement from all authors. After acceptance or publication, such changes will be considered only in exceptional circumstances and will be evaluated in accordance with the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Further guidance is available at https://publicationethics.org/authorship. The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that the author list and the order of authors are correct before publication.

Disclosure and conflicts of interest

All authors should disclose any financial or other conflicts of interest that might influence the results or interpretation of their work.

Fundamental errors in published works

If an author discovers a significant error in a published article, the author must promptly notify the Editor-in-Chief and cooperate in correcting or retracting the article if necessary.

Publication and Submission Fee

No fees are required for manuscript submission or initial processing. Article processing charges are applied only after acceptance and are described on the journal website under the Author Fees section.

Crossref and Similarity Check

EJPAM participates in Crossref services to assign DOIs to published articles and to improve the discoverability of research outputs. The journal also uses Crossref Similarity Check to help detect potential plagiarism in submitted manuscripts.

Advertising and Direct Marketing Policy

EJPAM does not accept advertising on its website or within its published issues. All editorial decisions are independent of commercial interests. Information shared about the journal, including calls for papers or publication announcements, is accurate and intended to inform the academic community.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) Use Policy

EJPAM supports the responsible use of artificial intelligence tools in research and publishing. AI tools cannot be listed as authors, since authorship requires human accountability. Authors who use AI tools in the preparation of manuscripts must disclose their use and ensure that all content remains accurate and properly attributed. Suspected misuse of AI technologies will be evaluated in accordance with COPE guidelines.
